Britain's coastal resorts have been "heavily regenerated" over the past few years, making the country a more attractive holiday option, according to an industry expert.
VisitBritain said that seaside attractions have begun targeting specific audiences, with one example being Brighton with the fashion crowd.
Sian Brenchley, a spokesperson for VisitBritain, said: "Our seaside resorts have really regenerated in recent years. They're offering a lot more to the domestic holidaymaker and are really becoming a viable holiday option."
She added that it is "fantastic news" as it is "regenerating the image" of the country, this could lead to more people choosing domestic holidays like camping and caravanning.
"We've got so many diverse holiday opportunities for people to experience while they're here."
Ms Brenchley added that there is something for everyone.
The British Resorts & Destinations Association recently said that holidays in the UK are far more "financially controllable" than those abroad.
