Campers can charge phone in a 'green way'

Campers at Glastonbury this year will no longer have the problem of having no electricity to charge their phone, thanks to Orange.

The mobile phone operator will be putting a wind and solar powered tent at the festival to help revellers in their camping experience.

A portable wind charger is also offered, consisting of a small turbine which can be fixed onto your tent and will pack up into your rucksack.

Orange said it hoped thousands of people will be able to take advantage of the services at the 23ft stand across the three-day event.

A spokeswoman for the firm said: "Our ultimate goal is to one day be in a position to power aspects of the [larger] Orange Chill 'n' Charge tent through renewable energy."

The idea has been praised as being in keeping with Glastonbury's eco-credentials by using an alternative energy source for phone charging.

In other festival news, revellers at the Creamfields festival this summer will be able to camp for the first time ever.
