Campers offered Dog Friendly service

A resource informing families of whether their pets will be welcome at campsites and holiday complexes is now available.

Dog Friendly is a database of more than 10,000 venues in which pooches are allowed.

The service allows consumers to check whether their canine will be permitted to stay at a range of areas, including campsites and caravan parks.

Meanwhile, pubs, beaches, hotels and general days out in which dogs are able to visit and stay are also named.

A customer service team is also on hand to answer any questions members may have regarding the availability of facilities for their pets.

The business, which was started in 2002 by a husband and wife team, has also produced a guide book called Dog Friendly Camping and Caravan Sites.

Earlier this month, research by online travel firm Holiday '09 found many Britons are looking for cheaper breaks during the credit crunch, such as camping and caravan trips.
