Caravan Club opens up to bird lovers

06/06/2008 14:07:21

The Caravan Club has revealed members who are also bird enthusiasts can get involved and learn about local birds and wildlife treats in their area.

Certain sites are participating in the latest scheme from the caravan authority, who have teamed up with the RSPB for the latest venture.

Experts from the charity will teach holidaymakers and locals alike about the birds and other wildlife around the parks.

Included in the participating sites is Top Lodge in Lincolnshire, where members can partake in nature walks in nearby Finshade Woods.

They will be taught of the different species of bird inhabiting the woods, the rare pipistrelle bats and other creatures, like badgers and deer.

A Scottish site is also getting in on the action, with the New England Bay park offering monthly talks in the neighbouring Mull of Galloway reserve.

Camping and caravanning was recently cited as a good way of getting back to nature while on holiday, by Stephen Bleach, writing in the Times.
