One caravan park is aiming to create an eco-friendly site to give customers a nicer environment in which to holiday, according to a source.
The Hafan y Mor park, near Pwllheli in Wales, now has a dedicated 'green team' designed to increase the environmental credentials of the site, reports the Daily Post.
Glyn Jones, the park's garden and environmental manager, has introduced activities like nature walks, to counteract the energy guzzling properties of the gaming machines on site.
In addition, he has planted bedding plans to save water, issued bikes to staff to reduce carbon emissions and uses an LPG powered lawnmower.
"We've 250 acres of grass to cut in the summer and I discovered that a standard ride-on mower is 40 times more polluting than a car," Mr Jones told the newspaper.
The park has achieved a gold status in the David Bellamy conservation scheme and has created a partnership between the park owners and Wildlife Trusts Wales, which will carry out conservation work on its six Welsh parks.
Recently another caravan park in Devon has adopted greener practices, including using bio-diesel in the park's vans.
