More people choosing a caravan holiday

More people are opting for a caravan holiday in the UK, according to research from Haven Holidays.

The company said that the rising cost of living has left many families with less to spend on their annual getaway, leaving many opting to stay at home for a cheaper break.

Figures from the Department of Transport back this up, with its figures showing 25 per cent more people are choosing to stay in Britain.

The weakening of the euro has led to people getting less holiday for their money when holidaying in the eurozone.

Haven said most families only have to travel for a maximum of two hours from their home, meaning travel time is a lot quicker than flying anywhere.

The park provider said many parks across the UK are close to a beach with indoor activities available for rainy days.

Other research this week from American Express found a third of all Brits would consider a caravan holiday this summer.
