A new £5 million caravan park is being proposed in Lowestoft in Suffolk to transform a run down area.
Park Holidays has revealed the plans, which it says will draw 15,000 tourists a year when it opens in 2009, reports EDP24.
The site used to be a council run caravan park but is now not used for anything.
Park Holidays said it will spend £3 million on regeneration of the site, which is planned to accommodate 150 static caravans, 70 pitches for touring caravans and an area for camping.
Stephen Adley, the council's portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, said the local authority was behind the move.
He added: "We now move a step closer to the day when tourists and residents alike return to the area, revitalising north Lowestoft and providing outstanding facilities for us all to be proud of."
The new park is set to do well as it was revealed recently by Haven Holidays that a 30 per cent rise has been seen in the UK of people opting for a caravan holiday.
