New form of camping unveiled

Camping pods, made of wood and resembling a shed, are now on offer as a different method of camping.
Nell Card, a writer for the Observer, said a recent visit to the Eskdale Camping and Caravanning Club Site, where the pods were on offer, provide alternative and affordable accommodation.
They are constructed of timber and are insulated with sheep's wool, with each one being suited to sleep four people.
Ms Card reports that inside the camping pod there is very little but a small window and a light in the ceiling, with a decking area outside which can house a temporary kitchen.
She said the firm which makes them, Newfoundland Leisure Lodges, has received a huge interest in the camping huts and is already taking bookings for Christmas and New Year.
Other alternatives to tents available this year are Podpads, which are offered at festivals this summer and feature a fitted carpet, interior lights and a 12v plug.
